Before you may register for the JAMB examination, you must have your JAMB profile code, which is a ten-digit number. This is the number you will provide at the CBT center when registering. Every applicant is required to create a JAMB profile. You’d also access your JAMB CAPS for admission acceptance using the profile login details. In addition, you must obtain a National Identification Number (NIN) in order to register with JAMB.

The Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) has made it possible to obtain the JAMB profile code by SMS by dialing the USSD code. The following is the procedure for obtaining your JAMB profile code:

1. Open your phone’s text messaging app
2. Type “NIN” followed by a space and your eleven (11) digit NIN number, for example NIN 23674325679
3. Type in 55019 or 66019
4. Your ten-digit JAMB profile code will be sent to you
5. To complete your registration, go to a JAMB CBT center.
6. Pay ₦4,700 to purchase the JAMB E-pin

You can also obtain your JAMB profile code by dialing *55019*1*NIN# or *66019*1*NIN#, which will provide you with your ten (10) digit JAMB profile code. The cost of creating a JAMB profile is fifty naira (50).

How to Recover your JAMB Profile Code

You can retrieve your JAMB profile code using the USSD code;

1. Open your phone’s text messaging app
2. Enter 55019 or 66019 as text receiver
3. Type RESEND
4. Send text message
5. Your profile code will be sent to you
6. The JAMB profile code does not expire.

Problems with JAMB Profile Creation

Here are some of the most typical issues you could run into while trying to create your JAMB profile code:

• JAMB account creation is not available
• NIN has been registered with another number
• Service timeout
• Unable to receive JAMB profile code using USSD
• Generation of same profile code from last year
• NIN is not verified or no record found

The following is a guide on how to create your JAMB profile code via the internet:

• Visit the JAMB facility website
• Click on Sign up for UTME/DE
• Click on Create an account
• Select the blue button to create a JAMB profile account
• Enter your email address and details
• Fill out the form with your correct email address, phone number and security answers.
• Click on the Ok button
• Select the Ok button on the email verification page
• Click on the JAMB message sent to your mailbox
• Open your Gmail app to see your JAMB profile code
• Click on the JAMB link inside the message from JAMB
• Select “Click here to continue your Profile Creation
• Enter your personal details
• Type your first, second and middle name. Select your gender.
• Select Date of Birth
• Enter your correct date of birth
• Enter your phone number and place of origin
• Enter your Password
• Type a password that you can never forget. Then click on Sign Up
• Proceed to Login
