In Nigeria, cement costs are like quicksilver. Despite not being an imported good, cement is one of the few consumer goods in the nation whose price fluctuates dramatically. And to make matters worse, the cost isn’t uniform across the nation. For instance, prices in Lagos would differ from what is available in Kano. And because of this, finding the current cement price in Nigeria might be confusing, especially if you use the Internet to do your research.

In light of the foregoing, we made the decision to create this post, which lists the current pricing of the major brands of cement offered in Nigeria. Since we are aware that these costs fluctuate frequently, we will strive to update this website whenever market prices change. We want to provide correct information on the topic, thus we kindly ask for your help. Please get in touch with us or leave a comment below if you are aware of any new price changes that are not included on this page or if you have any more knowledge about the cement price in Nigeria.

In different regions of Nigeria, cement costs vary. Most of the time, Lagos’ prices—especially those in its more upscale neighborhoods—are a little bit more than those found elsewhere in the nation. In Lagos, a 50kg bag of cement may really cost N200 more than the average price for the commodity. You won’t likely receive a deal that is less than the average price in the market. If you’re in Lagos or any other area of the country where the cost of goods and services is often greater, always add roughly N200 to the current prices shown on this page to be safe.

Important players in Nigeria’s cement market

Dangote Cement
The Dangote Group, which Alhaji Aliko Dangote created, is the owner of Dangote Cement Plc, the company that produces the well-known Dangote cement and is currently the dominant player in the Nigerian cement industry. The business was initially established in 1992 under the name Obajana Cement Plc, but in July 2010 it changed its name to Dangote Cement Plc. The company, which is now the biggest listed on the Nigerian Stock Exchange, produces and distributes cement in Nigeria as well as other African nations like Zambia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Congo, Senegal, Tanzania, South Africa, Cameroun, Ghana, and Zambia.

With a 10.25 mmtpa production capacity, the company’s manufacturing facility in Obajana, Kogi state, is the biggest in Africa. Aside from Gboko, Benue State, and Obeshe, Ogun State, the business also operates plants there (4 mmtpa each). In addition to Nigeria, Dangote Cement also has cement production facilities in a number of other African nations.

Nigerian Lafarge Cement
Lafarge Group, another significant player in the Nigerian cement business, helps Nigeria produce roughly 12 mmtpa of cement, with an estimated increase to 18 mmtpa by 2020. The company operates operations in the states of Ogun (three WAPCO plants producing a combined 4.5mmtpa), Gombe (one mmtpa Ashaka cement plant), Cross River (2.5mmtpa United Cement Company of Nigeria facility), and Rivers (Atlas cement company).

Along with cement, Lafarge also manufactures and sells concrete and other building aggregates. The parent firm LafargeHolcim, a French-Swiss business with headquarters in Paris, France, oversees the company’s operations in Nigeria.
